In a calendar year where certain months are dedicated to specific illnesses,
September is a particularly painful one for many, as it focuses on Childhood
Cancer Awareness. During this month, you’ll see gold everywhere — gold
ribbons, gold banners, gold-themed profile photos on social media, all in the
name of awareness and remembrance of children battling cancer.
Especially close to our hearts are Rohan, Jaime Rose and Xavier, who all lost
their fight. For those who have lost a child to cancer, gold represents sorrow,
instead of hope. They are left with the burden of remembering — not just their
children, but the painful way in which they passed away. In their honour, they
are always with us, always in our hearts, always at the periphery of every thought, every moment.
